Financial Translation for Regulated Fund Documents

Financial translation for the Irish funds industry

HuHuman element

We translate the regulated documents that funds, insurers and banks file and distribute across the EU and UK. Prospectuses, UCITS KIIDs, PRIIPs KIDs and sustainability disclosures arrive filing-ready, checked against the English master, and inside the legal page limits.

Every Irish-domiciled UCITS or AIF marketed cross-border must produce documents in the official language of each host state. There is no default lingua franca for retail distribution, and national competent authorities check regulated materials at the point of fund registration. A translation that fails equivalence stalls a launch.

Dublin's IFSC hosts more than 9,200 funds with €5.4tn in net assets. Fund promoters, management companies, administrators and the Central Bank of Ireland work within minutes of each other.

Why regulated fund documents need specialist translation

Regulatory equivalence is a legal requirement. A translated UCITS prospectus must contain the same information and the same meaning as the CBI-filed English version, per S.I. 316/2026 Reg 55(2), and PRIIPs KID translations must faithfully and accurately reflect the original under Reg 1286/2014 Art 7.

Layout is fixed by law too. A UCITS KIID may not exceed two pages of A4 when printed, under Reg 583/2010 Art 6, and structured KIIDs get three pages under Art 37. German, French and Italian versions expand in translation, so DTP and bilingual layout are part of the job.

Terminology is controlled because the terms carry regulatory definitions. Performance scenarios, transaction costs, SRI and PAI cannot be approximated, and marketing communications must stay consistent with the KIID, KID and prospectus. ESMA guidance and S.I. 316/2026 Reg 56 set that duty.

Documents we translate for funds, insurers and banks

We translate the full set of regulated documents for funds, insurers and banks.

  • Fund documents: prospectus and supplements, UCITS KIID, PRIIPs KID.
  • ICAV and constitutional documents, fund rules, annual and semi-annual reports and accounts.
  • Sustainability: SFDR pre-contractual disclosures, PAI statements, periodic reports, CSRD and ESRS sustainability statements.
  • Insurance and banking: IPIDs under the IDD, policy documents, bank statements and loan documents. Certified versions cover Revenue and overseas requirements, via certified translation.
  • Corporate finance: marketing communications, fact sheets, investor letters, M&A and IPO materials, MiCA crypto-asset white papers. Legal equivalence sits with legal translation.
TeTerminology

How we keep every language version consistent and compliant

One term base and one translation memory, memoQ and Trados compatible, keep every version aligned. Monthly fact sheets, quarterly updates and statutory documents stay consistent with the English master.

Version-pairing checks run between KID, prospectus and supplements, mirroring the CBI declaration requirement. DTP and bilingual layout hold the page limits, and we avoid page-number cross-references because the Central Bank of Ireland warns they go stale. Deliverables arrive formatted for the CBI Portal, including the UCITS KIID Update request type and the ad-hoc email route.

CeCertified

Proof: a certified process built for regulated documents

Our process is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 17100 and ISO 18587, and we have held these certifications since 2021. ISO 17100 is the norm the Irish market itself cites. See how we work for the full process.

Linguists with deep experience in regulated documents handle each project. Three people work on every file: in-house preparation, translation or post-editing, and in-house proofreading. That is six eyes on every document before delivery.

Native Irish-language linguists and bilingual layout cover the Gaeilge route, aligned with the CBI's Irish Language Scheme commitments. The wider Irish translation practice supports this work.

Our work spans the CBI Portal and the KIID, KID and passporting regimes. A compliance checklist ships with each filing, so your responsible person or legal advisor can sign the CBI declaration in full knowledge.

Process and timelines around the filing calendar

We work to the published filing mechanics, and your calendar drives the schedule. KIIDs are filed before authorisation of each UCITS or sub-fund, annual updates go through the CBI Portal, and ad-hoc updates go by email. PRIIPs KIDs for new UCITS accompany the authorisation pack, as required since 1 January 2023. SFDR annex updates follow the CBI streamlined process.

A dedicated project manager owns the rollout, with defined handoffs. Coordinated delivery spans 5 to 15 languages from one account manager, matching cross-border distribution across the EU and UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you guarantee the translated KID or prospectus will be accepted for filing?

We cannot guarantee a regulator's decision. We deliver filing-ready accuracy instead: regulator-accurate terminology, DTP within the two-page A4 limit under Reg 583/2010, and consistency with the English master. Every delivery passes a regulatory-review readiness pass before it reaches you.

How do you keep terminology consistent across our fund documents and language versions?

Per-client term bases and translation memory sit at the centre of every project, shared across KID, KIID, prospectus, ESG and investor-communication documents. Every language version is checked against the English master before delivery.

What is your turnaround for a KID update or a new fund launch?

A dedicated project manager runs each update, with parallel workflows and DTP held inside the page limit. We agree exact timelines when we scope your project.

Can you handle the file formats our CBI Portal submissions need?

Yes. Deliverables are formatted for CBI Portal filing, including PDF/X and bilingual layouts. Signed declaration support is included, and we agree formats before work starts.

How do you protect confidential or unlisted fund documents?

NDAs are standard on request. Handling is GDPR compliant, with EU-only processing and secure transfer. A data processing agreement is available, and we never disclose client names.

Do you use machine translation for regulated documents?

Not for regulator-facing text. KIDs and prospectuses are translated with translation-memory-based consistency and expert human review. Governed MT post-editing is used only where you direct it, within ISO 17100 and ISO 18587 scope.
